Competition over scarce resources...

...the news regarding Chinese moratoriums over rare-earth exports as well as the "counter-subsidy" duties, as if the entire Chinese economy were not "subsidized", on U.S. chicken imports is particularly disconcerting given my views on the contracting (and associated official GDP "management") economy of the Paper Dragon.

This is why I have been mentioning the importance of Africa and the security apparatus the U.S. enjoys versus the Chinese model of purchasing raw material sites and building the associated infrastructure for extraction.

The Obama Doctrine (my view that the President will be forced to form a modern version of the Monroe Doctrine, this time focusing on the antipode continents of Africa and South America) has yet to form, but a strain of it seems inevitable.
